Eaton is the real life cowboy who inspired Pistol Pete - the mascot OSU fans know and love. In this episode of the Inside OSU Podcast, Meghan Robinson and First Cowboy Darren Shrum sit down with the two students who are currently serving as our mascot, Pistol Pete 95 Bryce Coon and Pistol Pete 96 Caden Schaufele. They discuss what Frank Eaton means to the university, why they decided to audition and what they hope for the next 100 years.

Frank "Pistol Pete" Eaton Inducted into Hall of Great Westerners

 
Frank "Pistol Pete" Eaton was a true American cowboy. His likeness inspired Oklahoma State's beloved mascot. On April 9, 2022, Eaton was inducted into the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum Hall of Great Westerners. In attendance, 28 Pistol Pete alumni, honoring the man they once portrayed.

Living the Code: Chief Leon Jones

 
Since joining the department in 1994, OSU Police Chief Leon Jones has made it his mission to build a better relationship with the campus community. He has served in many roles over the years including the first community policing officer, the first bike patrol officer, investigator and captain. Jones took over as chief in August 2017, becoming the first African American to hold the position.

Betty Bowman made history when she became the first female student body president at Oklahoma A & M ( now Oklahoma State University). She went on to become an educator and played a pivotal role in bringing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization to Oklahoma.
